about

have three other songs I'm working on right now, and then Monday afternoon I found the first few lines of this scribbled in a little notebook I carry around. Within ten minutes I'd pretty much finished writing it. Kind of fun, kind of silly, kind of 80's. I'm wondering how many people will get the Godfather reference.

lyrics

Scarface and Ginger
at the Castaway Bar
never gonna happen
anyone'll tell you --
He's too soft and she's too hard
Picture in her wallet
Some kid she doesn't know
Scarface has a dream
he's gonna quit this scene
get a radio show

But you can't say no
when your heart says go
when your heart says
that's the one, that's the one
that's the one, that's the one
hits you like a body blow

Scarface loves so bravely
Ginger can't be bothered
Necessity's the mother
of one thing or another
but no one knows the father
Sitting 'cross the table
making eyes at her double-D's
He says you're looking good
No reply, again he tries
This time she agrees

Still you can't say no
when your heart says so
when your heart says
that's the one, that's the one
that's the one, that's the one
hits you like a body blow
up and down like tremolo
everything turns indigo
It's talking like Pinocchio

solo

Scarface and Ginger
at the Castaway Bar
the way you hear 'em tell it
every one of 'em could smell it
like a Mexican cigar
Ginger met a Cuban
when he tried to steal her phone
Scarface went for a ride
They dropped him by the riverside
Left the gun
took the calzone

But you can't say no
when your heart says go
when your heart says
that's the one, that's the one
that's the one, that's the one
hits you like a body blow
up and down like tremolo
everything turns indigo
you can't stop or even slow
'cause every sky's a rainbow
you're walking under misteltoe
you're dropping like a domino
you're pulled out by the undertow
and you can't say
you can't say
you can't say
you can't say no
